I’m sorry… I had to. As my first post back from the dead, I really do need to get my head back into the writing game.
As mentioned before, I’ve had quite a bit of a writing break. After moving countries, schools etc. it’s been a little hectic. Now, I know that’s not an excuse for not writing, so I’m going to be honest. I squandered away all my writing time on YouTube, Instagram, and Wattpad.
Because I know that most of you range in the younger age demographic where we make time to spend on social media, I can affirm that going on social media resulted in an approximate brain growth of 0%.
Great.
Now I know that it’s good to take a break, but taking a 6 month break is probably ranging on the borderline of unnecessary to highly unnecessary. I’m pretty sure I lost a good, healthy amount of brain cells watching thrifting videos, scrolling through meme insta posts and reading Wattpad stories with basically the same plot except with different characters (not saying I don’t love those, I regret to say I enjoy them all the same).
However, I’ve realised throughout all of this cliche book perusing, thumb-scrolling exercises, and definitely an increase in my glasses degrees that I’ve basically gained nothing through doing all of this.
Leading me to the revelation that I need to get my head in the game.
Getting back to writing on WriteTheWorld, NaNoWriMo etc. is going to be difficult after leaving my writing brain in a sedentary, hibernating position for the past 6 months, but I think I just need to shove it into the deep end and pray for the best.
Sometimes, you just got to do what you have to do to get your head to actually swim and not bob/ float uselessly above water.
